That's Odd

Friday, 07 October 2011   |   Creativity Challenges

ObserveThis weeks challenge will help you hone your eye for detail and improve your creativity.  How much of the world passes you by without you noticing? We tend to put ourselves on auto pilot a lot of the time. If you want to improve your creativity you have to learn to see the small details and to question them.  So let's dive in and see what's involved.

Your challenge this week is to identify 10 obscure things around you every day.  Then you need to come up with 5 hypotheses as to why it is like that.

For example you may notice that the grass grows faster on one side of the street than the other.  You may look at things like how new the buildings are on either sides of the road.  What about shade?  Do people walk their dogs more on one side than the other? etc.

Make a habit of noticing things that are odd around you and thinking up reasons why it might be so.  You'll notice that over time you'll become more aware and this will fuel your creativity.

Remember to check back next Friday when our next Creativity Challenge will be released.
