Mind Map Your Way to Creativity

Friday, 01 October 2010   |   Creativity Challenges

This week we're going to make a mind map.  This mind map is going to be different to any you've used previously however.

First off we need a topic.

What makes you happy and what is happiness to you?  It could be a goal,  it could be your favorite sport or past time,  it could be a memory,  or anything else that moves you.

The aim here is to create a powerful reminder and motivator for what makes you happy.  The happier you are the more creative you are.

You can find out more about mind maps here and read about some of the benefits of mind maps here.

Now for the fun part.

We need to make this mind map visible.  It has to be a constant and powerful reminder to you.

Here are a few ideas but you are free to come up with your own ways to express your mind map and if you do it would be great if you left a comment with your idea.

Mind Map Wall Art

Create your mind map on a prominent wall.  Present the items on cutout cardboard and make the links with straws or wool or anything else interesting you can find.

Computer Desktop Background

Create your mind map as a background for your computer desktop.  That way you'll always see it when you're working on your computer.  Update is regularly in different shades and colours for different seasons.

Mind Map Mobile

Create your mind map as a hanging mobile.  Done with a touch of style this can look great as it meanders in the wind.

Spend a bit of time thinking about the contents of your mind map. Create three different alternatives.  Combine different elements of them.

Then dive in to creating your mind map.  The aim is to have fun be creative and create something that you are proud of and that will serve as a powerful means of energizing you into that creative thinking zone.
