A Murder Mystery in Order

Monday, 15 August 2011   |   Creativity Games

ObservationThis week there's been a murder.

Game:  There are three random words listed below.  Your aim is to use them in an explanation in how the murderer committed their crime.  The words are in order and that order must be maintained in your explanation.  The order may relate to time or to some other characteristic.

  • nest
  • scissors
  • angel

Challenge:  There is no challenge this week.

Strategy: Here we have two levels of creativity.  In what way will the items be ordered? and then how will they come together.  The first characteristic will affect the second one.  It's sort of like a dynamic restriction because you have the ability to influence it.  This is similar to real life where we can often change our perspective on things and bring about different possibilities in the process.  For instance we can change what the problem is we are trying to solve.  We can identify different ways in which things can be used.  We can change a lot more than we normally realise and when we do so we can achieve quite a lot.  So have fun and think about how you can redefine your boundaries or use them to your advantage.
