Unobvious Opposites

Monday, 23 August 2010   |   Creativity Games

This week we're fighting our habits.

Game:  There are 3 words below.  Pick two of them and explain why they are in fact opposites of each other.

  • pirate
  • vase
  • moss

Challenge:  For extra challenge explain how they are all opposites of each other but keep the reasons along the same theme.

Strategy:  What we are exercising here is our ability to appreciate the differences in things.  Most people find it natural to see how things are related (as we did in a previous game).  Here you are going against your habit and identifying why they are different.  This is useful in many ways as being able to see the subtle differences in things allows us to put them together in ways that complement each other.

(Tip:  If you found this game useful then why not generate more sets of words to play with in our generator.  Use them by yourself,  in your classes or with your team.)
