Connected by Colour

Monday, 30 July 2012   |   Creativity Games

colour schemeThis week we're seeing in vivid colour.

Game:  There are 5 random words below.  Your aim is to suggest how one of the words is related to the previous commenters word based upon a particular colour (which again must be a different colour than that used by the previous commenter) (The first person to start get's to choose two words).

  • corn
  • roof
  • ghost
  • brick
  • snail

Challenge:  For extra challenge instead of using basic colours such as red or blue you must use descriptive colours such as fierce red or electic blue.  Try and conjur the most creative colours you can however.

Strategy: When you look at the world you see a mass of colour.  Colour is very powerful.  It can make something look inviting, or scary, simple, or complex, and so on.  Yet we largely tend to ignore this (except for graphic artists and other professionals like such).  Probably becuase they are hard to describe and their effective use is even harder to fully understand.  It's a shame because I believe the perspective or dimension of colour holds a lot of potential in terms of inspiring and empowering highly creative thinking.  So this weeks game is an exercise in getting you to think more about colour in a creative way.
