The Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

FlyThis week we're progressing.

Game:  There are 5 random words below.  Use one of these as inspiration for something that can be used to catch or mangle whatever it was that the previous comment suggested.  The idea is that we're following the same pattern as the nursery rhyme "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly".  (See strategy below for more)

  • briefcase
  • beard
  • tent
  • vitamins
  • velcro

Challenge:  There is no challenge this week.

Strategy: In the classic nursery rhyme "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly", the lady follows on with a spider to catch the fly, then a bird to catch the spider and a cat to catch the bird etc.  One progresses to the next and further onto the next and we get sillier and sillier as we go.  This can be a great approach for creative thinking as well.  At each step you have to get larger and larger, blowing the original idea further out of proportion.  In doing so we easily sway onto tangents and ideas pop up that we would not have originally considered.  Seems like a bit of silly fun but it can lead to some serious creative ideas.
