Flip Flop Values

Monday, 28 September 2015   |   Creativity Games

Yin YangThis week we're comparing.

Game:  There are 2 random words below.  Your aim is to suggest a value (see below) for which one is greater than the other.  The word that is greater must be opposite to the word that was greater in the previous commenters post.

  • shark
  • orchestra

Challenge:  There is no challenge this week.

Strategy: It's easy to get very one sided when comparing things.  Especially if our point of view is biased for some reason.  We should always seek a balanced comparison and this weeks game is an example of a simple strategy to try and achieve that.  By value we really mean a characteristic.  So for instance, a value could be cost or weight or speed.  Ideally it is a characteristic which is of benefit to us in some way but it could just be a general characteristic.  Often it is hard to measure how much of that value the given item has so we just need to estimate which one has the greater amount.  The idea is not to get an accurate description of these objects but merely to encourage ourselves to consider them from a variety of different angles.  Because we have to flip flop between which is the greater we eventually have to be quite creative in what we suggest and this is where the fun begins.
