This week we're moving things around.
Game: There is one word listed below. It will be used to get the ball rolling. What you must do is take the word from the previous comment and modify it. You are to move one letter to a new location in the word and replace another letter with a new one. Your aim is to create a made up word then explain what its meaning is.
This weeks challenge is simple and relaxing. Challenge yourself to see what isn't there.
We're off to do some cloud gazing. Grab yourself a nice patch of grass, maybe some friends, and lie down. Spend an hour or two analysing the clouds that drift by and see what you can find. Can you see any animals? How about everyday objects? Can you invent new items? It's relaxing and relaxation helps to open up the mind.
Nature can provide us with many forms of inspiration. On a typical beach there could be billions of grains of sand. Of these we could have many many different sizes, shapes, colours and arrangements of grains. These are also influenced by many different, fairly routine, external influences such as the tides, waves, wind, vegetation and animals. This is a massively complex system that could potentially hold many answers, ideas and inspiration.
This week we're going to be creating.
Game: There are four words listed below. Your aim is to use them as inspiration for a new creature that you are going to create. One word will be used to inspire the habitat of the creature. One word to inspire what it eats. One word to inspire some unique characteristic and one word to inspire the sounds it makes.
Is your life hectic? Let's solve that then.
A key part of being creative is allowing time to just sit and think. To let ideas flow and allow your mind to play with them. Yet our lives are becoming increasingly hectic which is keeping us from this.
If you want more time in which to be creative then creativity is the answer.
Zombies are something we have a fascination with. Just look at how many times they appear in the plots of movies and other media. The outbreak is the most common aspect to be covered. Naturally this is the most exciting part of an outbreak, especially from a movie point of view.
Let's cast our minds and imagination to the long term outcome of an outbreak.
This week we're learning to spot the simple and obvious yet often overlooked.
Game: There are six words listed below. The first post gets it easy. All they have to do is separate the words into two groups of three and state why they are grouped that way. Every other reply must modify the groupings. What you must do is take one word from the first group of the previous reply and switch it with a word from their second group to make a new set of groups that still makes sense. Then you must state what the new relationship is.
Maths may not by your thing but there is actually a huge amount of creativity in maths. Discovering it can be a good way to inspire different ways of thinking. Below are some examples of some interesting things you can do with numbers. Your challenge this week is to check them out and then go on a quest to discover 10 more interesting things you can do with numbers.
In todays world, nothing is made to last (or few things at that). What sort of impact is this going to have on our ability to pass things down from generation to generation. In decades gone by tools and other items would easily last and retain their usefulness. For instance a slide rule could be given to a grandson and still work just as well as the day it was bought. It could be used daily and be a reminder of our greater family. A lot of items nowadays will not cater for this. I'm sure that thumb drive for instance is not going to cut it. Sure it may be 64 GB and store thousands of photos and documents and other stuff now but you can be that when it comes time to hand it to your grandchildren it will barely hold a document and they'll stare at you blankly when you say that they need a USB port to stick it into.
This week we're learning to be inquisitive.
Game: There is one word listed below. The first post must pose a question for which this word would be a possible answer. Every other post must be a question that would lead on from the previous question. (This is fairly open, any way you can tie it in is good.)
What is a power word?
A power word is a word that has great effect to the person hearing or reading it. There are many general power words such as:
The problem is that these are general power words. They are strong but they probably don't move you when you come across them.
